A Brief Introduction for Reading an Eye Prescription


Reading an eye prescription is not the job of an ordinary person as it comes in a standardized notation and with a standardized format. If in the case one hopes to read eye prescription, it is necessary to have a clear understanding of the terms such as OU, OS and OD.

A few of the other terms, that one must hold knowledge of in order to understand an eye prescription include PD, D.V., PL, CYL, SPH, PAL, BO, BI, BU and BD as well.

It is necessary to take a careful note of the abbreviations, as the prescription of every concerned doctor is unique.
